liberty statue cancelled

It is a culture that bullies freedom of speech. Nobody should be above mockery, nobody should remain undisputed, every idea should be challenged.

People are getting deplatformed because of some jokes or some old tweets, because some people just can’t stand the idea of someone else making fun of something or expressing a different opinion.

If we take a few seconds and do the tiniest bit of critical thinking, we can conclude that canceled culture is simply bad, because it means that people are expected to think and speak in a certain way.

And the more people get canceled, the more the limits get bigger and bigger, till we’re going to be able to use a very limited vocabulary and we’re also going to be able to have only a very limited set of ideas.

If something is truly extreme, trully hateful and inciteful, then yes, then I would understand that the person who acts in a very damaging manner shouldn’t have a place in a normal society, but people are literally getting deplatformed for jokes. Jokes. How more ridiculous can it get?

The loudest people will try to call the shots, but usually the loudest people are not the smartest ones. They lack any expertise, but yet, they have the false impression that they hold the moral high ground.

And also, the loudest people seem to be the most triggered ones, the ones that can’t face even the tiniest bit of adversity without breaking down.

Cancel culture, at its core, just screams intolerance and hate; lack of common sense; lack of empathy. I, personally, don’t care if someone agrees or disagrees with me on any point, on any idea. I will still want them to be free to express whatever they want.

What’s the worst that can happen? have you hurt my feelings? At best, I will get a new perspective, a new idea, or at least, I will have some fun at the expense of someone embarrassing himself or herself with a delusional idea.

And I will take that any day over the concept of cancelling.

I don’t believe in political correctness; I only believe in being polite. So, any person who has some empathy and some respect should be able to live just fine.

Who cares if someone gets offended by an idea? As long as nobody gets hurt, and by hurt I really mean that, not just triggered, then we should be able to carry on with life and not waste time trying to "cancel" people.

Those people who are quick to jump on the cancelling wagon better make sure they’ll stay in their safe zone for the rest of their life, because God forbid they hear too many different opinions or bad words, because, who knows, one day they may have a mental breakdown from which they won’t be able to recover.

Conclusion

Life should be about sharing ideas, helping each other, adapting, changing what doesn’t work, and keeping getting better. But nobody will be able to evolve if the limits keep getting bigger.

People won’t be able to talk about certain ideas, they won’t be able to say certain words, and all of this will be only about having the right and wrong idea. And yet, nobody can say for sure what is wrong and what is right.

I’d rather hear the most absurd things every day than people not being able to voice them.
