man reading a book

If you’re really serious about blogging, you should read at least two books per week. Make it three if you have more free time than the average person, and maybe make it one if you’re very busy.

But don’t let the week go without reading a book. Even if you skim through it, it will help, because you can pick up some ideas and find out interesting things.

It’s way easier to find article ideas if you read non-fiction, but even from fiction, you can pick up some keywords that will generate content.

“A reader lives a thousand lives before he dies, said Jojen. The man who never reads lives only one.” - George R.R. Martin, A Dance with Dragons

Just today, I was reading a book from an entrepreneur named James Marcoux, and I found out this: Justin Bieber was discovered first on YouTube by a talent manager who came across a video where little Justin was singing at school.

Even if you don’t like the guy, it’s pretty interesting, especially if you have a blog about celebrities. The book was about personal branding; I didn’t expect to find something about Bieber, just as you didn’t expect to find this here when you clicked on the article.

The idea is that you can come across impressive information. Keep reading, and in one week of reading, it’s impossible not to come across some ideas.

And not only this: The more you read, the more you will know and the more connections you will be able to make.

You can create some really great comparison articles, something new that others haven’t made yet because they didn’t read the exact same books that you did, so they won’t be able to come up with your ideas.

Also, it helps a lot, even when you write. It will enable you to fill pages easier because you will recall different things from different books, make connections, use them as examples, and before you know it, you’ve already become more successful than a lot of other bloggers.

Good luck!
