man planning

Some of your goals have been sitting on our list for entire years, and they still look like they’re far away from completion.

Following these four steps will make you achieve your goal easily and faster.

Make it specific

Doing this will set your aim. You won’t be able to hit your target if your aim is all over the place.

For example, if you want to lose weight, don’t just set your goal as "losing weight". Select an amount and be specific: "I want to lose 10 kg."

Make it achievable

If it’s not realistic, you may find it very hard to even start working towards it. And if you track your progress but see no results, you will get discouraged. It’s good to aim as high as possible, but keep it real.

Make it measurable

If you’re not able to track your progress, you may lose your motivation. And unless you’re a really disciplined person, that motivation that you may lose will mean giving up.

If you don’t want to measure your progress, at least be sure you’re disciplined enough to work towards your goal every day, regardless of how you feel. Sure, if you’re extremely sick, then take some days off, but once you get better, keep on working on your goal.

Set a deadline

When you have a deadline for a project, you’re likely to work a little bit harder than normal. It will give you that urgency and a little motivation as a boost. It can go both ways, though.

It can stress you out if you’re not setting a realistic deadline. So, we’re going back to the first example. If you want to lose 10 kg, you’ll definitely want to set a time limit for this, but you must know yourself, your metabolism, and your level of dedication.

If you’re very ambitious, you can set the deadline at the end of three months. Or if you’re not really serious about this, make it longer. Set it for five months. And don’t forget to split the goal into smaller goals, such as losing 2 kg a month. This is just an example.

You can take it, change it, and then apply it to whatever you want to accomplish. Selling, writing, gaining weight, earning money. These four steps work for literally everything.

Good luck!
